Over the past 20 years, I have been providing event caricatures in the New Jersey and Pennsylvania area at a variety of Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. No Bar Mitzvah had me as excited and inspired as Derek’s Monster Bar Mitzvah last Saturday in Hillsborough, New Jersey.
Bruce Almighty
As a HUGE horror and Bruce Campbell fanboy, you can imagine my reaction when Derek’s father, Jeff, emailed me a few days before the event with one final request:
Derek was wondering if you would be able to do one of him as Ash from Army of Darkness & Evil Dead. If you are not familiar with the character he has a chainsaw arm & carries a “boomstick” shotgun.”
I knew exactly what Derek wanted. This would not be my first drawing of Ash – but it would be the first time I would make money drawing the character. Fast forward a few years and Derek would take this caricature with him to a New Jersey Comic-con to have Bruce Campbell autograph it!
After that email, I decided my next post would be documenting this Bar Mitzvah – because this sort of party doesn’t happen often. I hope you have as much fun viewing these caricatures as I did creating them.
